Dr Danélle Serfontein

MBChB (US 1998 Cum Laude), B. Sc. Honns Pharms (PUChO 2005, Cum Laude),  Dip PEC  (CMSA 2001, Medal), CDE Diabetes accreditation 2015 and University of South Wales Post Graduate Diploma in Diabetes (in process)

I have spent seventeen years working in the field of Emergency Medicine, thirteen of which in the private sector ( Wilgers Trauma Unit), gaining invaluable experience in general adult and paediatric medicine, medical and surgical procedures, conscious sedation, crisis management, resuscitation and follow-up care. In addition to these clinical skills, I was privileged to acquire extensive people skills as well as personal development in business management, administration and leadership. I value people and truly enjoy interacting with colleagues and patients alike. I have reached a stage in my medical career where I would like to build relationships and partner with my patients in understanding and managing medical challenges. We should look at our problems from different angles in creating solutions.

Diabetes is a world wide epidemic.  This multi-system, complex, growing illness requires a holistic approach, sound evidence-based medical knowledge  and a responsible lifestyle.

I strive to be a well balanced person, to live a well balanced life, to tread softly and always keep on growing. I am very happy to be a part of the Med Ahead @ Wilgers team  – and happily go home to my husband Uli and my two lovely boys David and Heinz.
